Intent

Our mission is to create cool climate premium wines from the distinctive terroir of the Lenswood vineyard – we believe minimal intervention is the key to enabling distinctive fruit flavours to shine through.

S&G

Our focus is on creating single vineyard, estate grown wines – we strive to enhance both the boutique nature of the vineyard and the cellar door experience for visitors.

History

Established in 1992, Mt Lofty Ranges Vineyard is a sustainable, niche, boutique vineyard nestled high in the Adelaide Hills at Lenswood, South Australia.

The first wines were produced in 1997 and in 1998 the Cellar Door was opened, one of the first in the Adelaide Hills. Once an apple orchard in the 1950’s, the property is set on a steep sloping parcel of land 550 metres above sea level. In 2009, Sharon Pearson and Garry Sweeney took over the picturesque vineyard.

Mt Lofty Ranges Vineyard proudly adopts a sustainable, approach to farming and is home to koalas, kangaroos, echidnas and native birdlife, half of the property has been retained as pristine natural bushland.

Harris Road Vineyard, Lenswood

Location: Our picturesque steep sloping vineyard is located in Lenswood, a sub region of the Adelaide Hills Wine Region.

Vines: Established in 1992, the vineyard has 19,000 planted vines consisting of Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Soil: The soil is predominately sandy, clay loam with a rock base of quartz, sandstone and ironstone with the steep slopes providing excellent drainage. We believe this distinctive minerally terroir is at the heart of our wines.

Harvest: The entire vineyard is hand caned pruned and harvested by hand picking. Whilst this is labour intensive, we think the results speak for themselves.
